Meggin

  • Meggin - D.O.G. Obedience Group - Assistant Trainer

Meggin started as a client at D.O.G. and quickly realized she had a love for behavior work. Meggin has worked as an adult health educator in the medical profession previously and enjoys the human aspect of dog training just as much as she does working with the dogs. She encourages and strives to strengthen the relationship between dogs and their guardians. Meggin has worked with dog rescue organizations for 20 years as an adoption counselor, foster and general volunteer. She has always had a soft spot for the dogs that struggle in what is often, a scary world, and loves watching them learn how to “be a dog” and live a happy and relaxed life.

Meggin holds two certifications that include her CPDT-KA through CCPDT as well as her CBATI-KA through the Grisha Stewart Academy. Meggin is also an evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen program. She specializes in behavior modification work using positive reinforcement methods. She is continually learning by attending conferences and seminars to make sure she brings her clients the latest research based training methods. Meggin has worked with over 500 clients and their pups in the KC Metro area as well as taught many more in classes such as obedience, agility, tricks and AKC Canine Good Citizen.

Meggin has two adult sons as well as three dogs (Lucy- GSD, Sadie (border collie mix), Finn (poodle/cattle dog mix). In her spare time, she enjoys art, walking and spending time with her family.
